Heartland Institute President Frank Lasée was on WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight” program on January 21, 2020 to debate Chicago Alderman Matt Martin on his resolution declaring a “climate emergency” in the city of Chicago. “Chicago Tonight” is the local PBS affiliate’s flagship news program.

Frank pointed out that forcing Chicago to undertake expensive measures to “fight climate change” are not just unnecessary, but an egregious waste of resources for a city running nearly a $1 billion budget deficit. He also debunked the claim that carbon dioxide is a “pollutant” and that changes in the level of Lake Michigan has anything to do with human activity.
