Recent years only qualify as the hottest “on record” because alarmists define “the record” as merely the past 100 years or so. Just over a century ago, the Earth emerged from the Little Ice Age, which was the coldest period of the past 10,000 years. As temperatures continue their recovery from the Little Ice Age, temperatures should naturally set new “records” on a regular basis. Before the Little Ice Age, and during most of the time period that human civilization has existed, temperatures were warmer than today.
